CONTEXT

Deaf or hard of hearing passengers may face a crucial information accessibility gap with no screens displaying next stops.
ACCESSIBILITY GAP
Passengers consistently experience uncertainty about upcoming stops due to activities, unreliable Wi-Fi, and lack of display screens inside trains.
PASSENGER’S PAIN POINT

Problems

Enhance the overall passenger experience by providing reliable, inclusive real-time stop information, which mitigates uncertainties and accommodates diverse needs.
GOAL
Add 'My Stop Alert' feature, a live lock screen feature in GO Transit app to address passenger uncertainty about stops.

Style Tiles & Accessibility

Be attentive.

In the beginning, I overlooked some details, making it hard to analyze the dataset effectively. Next time I would be more attentive to nuances during observations for a more thorough understanding of users behaviours and environments!

Be flexible.

I've learned that the original intervention might not unfold as planned. As mentioned earlier, the initial concept of integrating the feature into existing maps apps encountered challenges due to the closed ecosystems of companies such as Google and Apple. It is important to maintain flexibility in the ever-evolving landscape of design projects.

Be inclusive.

At first, I was unable to integrate GO Transit's branding colour due to accessibility considerations. Instead of being constrained by this limitation, I came up with an idea of a dark mode using their secondary brand colour. This not only adhered to the brand but also enhanced inclusivity by providing more options for different users!
